Mt. Tom, Setting Moon_B&W

I made this photograph while in the eastern Sierra on my annual Fall Colors Photoshoot. It was mid-morning and I had just finished working the light up higher on the mountain. I was now working my way down canyon to another drainage that I like to visit and photograph in. Good light arrives there later in the morning and I was excited to see what I might encounter.

As I exited a lazy left-handed bend in the road this scene presented itself. I quickly spotted a safe place to park, jumped out and framed this shot up. Looking through the viewfinder I loved the way this morning's light highlighted the textures on the mountainside. I also knew that I was going to process this as a black and white photograph even before I released the shutter.
