Eastern Sierra - Clearing Autumn Storm
I had been making photographs lower on the mountain in a mix of light rain and occasional snow flurries all morning. I was working in a different drainage and had no idea what was happening up in this section of the canyon. When the weather started to back off I decided to head up higher on the mountain and see what I could find.
I am very familiar with this section of the Sierra and understood the potential. When the clouds started to lift and dissipate I had a strong feeling that something special was about to happen.
I parked in a large pull out grabbed my camera pack and tripod then began the tedious task of navigating the rocky terrain. I was standing at an elevation of just over 9000 feet and smiling from ear to ear when I framed up this shot.
