Artists Palette #1 - Death Valley National Park

The details of nature are so fascinating! It's amazing just how beautiful the desert can be. For this photograph I zoomed in tight in order to frame up a small section of the side of what actually is a large mountain. I was initially attracted by the unexpected colors. Carved by the erosive power of water and wind. The colors are from volcanic deposits rich in compounds such as iron oxides and chlorite.
